Windows tips |
Have you ever had desktop icons disappear for apparently no reason on your Windows 7 system? If so, you are not imagining it. There is a system maintenance program that automatically 'fixes' broken icons. They are likely to be shortcuts to network locations. When the fix process detects four or more broken icons, it removes all broken icons from your desktop. Now for the good bit. They are automatically backed up so you can restore them. (1) Open Windows Explorer, (2) Browse to c:\users\(your windows username), (3) Right click Desktop and select Properties, (4) Click the Previous Versions tab, (5) Click to highlight the version you wish to restore icons from, (6) Click the Open button and copy/paste the icons you wish to restore back to your desktop |
