Prospec Systems Limited, the market leading author and supplier of PSL Datatrack production control software, was established in 1988 and has supplied computer software solutions to manufacturing businesses for over 30 years.
Our aim has always been to supply a practical, simple and logical approach to controlling production for subcontract precision engineering businesses backed up by a very high standard of customer service. This approach is of great value to our customers, whose journey begins with the decision to invest in a production control system.
Typically once the need for a more slick and streamlined process has been identified, a potential customer will research into and contact several production control software suppliers. An initial enquiry will lead to an introductory conversation to discuss the customer’s business as well as any bespoke requirements and a subsequent demonstration can be arranged.
An ideal demonstration involves a day’s visit to the customer’s site, during which we can exhibit the system’s suite of modules to determine the scope of system that the customer may require as well as considering any bespoke requirements that they may have. We pride ourselves on taking time to learn a customer’s business inside and out, to make sure they buy the right system for their business and to be able to provide high quality technical support during the implementation stage and beyond.
Carl Baker, Director at Brown & Holmes (Tamworth) Ltd, reinforces this notion by saying: “For me, the system we chose is right, and PSL Datatrack have developed their system in line with our development of our business. The software is flexible enough to be tailored to suit our changing needs. Communication between our companies is excellent and they have proved themselves to have a good understanding of our business.”
Some suppliers of production control software seem to prefer to host workshops to demonstrate their product. In our experience, this is just not practical for prospective customers. Holding workshops could mean key decision makers being absent from a business for a several days and unable to fulfil all of their duties. The workshop could potentially cost thousands of pounds for a product that they may not actually end up purchasing. If two decision makers are required to attend the workshop this cost would only increase.
It is not just decision makers that may be unable to fulfil their duties during the workshop time period. Staff left at the company could be hindered, as situations may arise that require input or approval from an individual with greater responsibility. This could see a business upset some customers by failing to meet demand/target dates and at its worst see customers become dissatisfied, possibly even looking elsewhere for similar products or services. Attending the workshop would therefore require planning in the same way that staff holidays would, which for a smaller business is not always easy.
This is why, at PSL Datatrack, our preference is always for a quality onsite demonstration. Online demonstrations can be arranged but a visit is far more personable and gives the customer the opportunity to discuss any sensitive or confidential issues which will almost always be impractical during a workshop.
A workshop may be led by an instructor working to a tighter itinerary or schedule and little scope to answer individual questions. PSL Datatrack encourages prospective customers to pick up the phone at any time if they establish new requirements or desire any further information.
We would like to encourage any engineering companies considering production control software to talk to us about what a PSL Datatrack system could do specifically for them. Following any company’s decision to invest, we provide training and consultancy services to help customers implement their production control software system as quickly and efficiently as possible, resulting in minimum disruption and downtime for the customer and, subsequently, their customers. Ongoing training can be provided on a one-to-one or group basis either at a customer’s site, online or at our offices in Bracknell, Berkshire.
The team here at PSL Datatrack pride ourselves on the strong customer partnerships we have already built up, many of which span several decades and several generations of families. We look forward to hearing from you too.
