Killala Precision Components of County Mayo is the first company in Ireland to invest in the PSL Datatrack production control software system. It has been purchased by Killala to give them close control over their precision engineering services, which include the production of high quality turned components for customers in markets as diverse as refrigeration, brewing, oil & gas, hydraulics and pneumatics, automotive and medical instruments.
The PSL Datatrack software was selected by Killala Precision to replace an existing software system, which had a number of drawbacks. These included its inability to generate adequate management reports on the company’s production activities and a lack of technical support from the supplier. PSL Datatrack has the flexibility to replace the existing system, offer improved functionality and designer level support.
The selection of PSL Datatrack to supply the system followed research by Killala’s management, including reference to the BTMA Buyer’s Guide and consultation with a number of existing users of PSL Datatrack. They endorsed the system for its capabilities and reliability, as well as expressing satisfaction with the support provided by PSL Datatrack.
PSL Datatrack sales and purchase order processing together with modules for scheduling, shop floor data collection and tooling are currently being implemented by Killala and these will give the company the facility to retrieve and review all the key performance indicators (KPI) relating to their production programmes and their ISO9001: 2008 quality management system.
“The PSL Datatrack production control software will be fully implemented over the coming months and we will then be able to see the full extent of its reporting capabilities,” says Lisa Loughney, Purchasing Manager of Killala. “So far PSL Datatrack has been very supportive, offering remote support, visits from the UK and by responding to a number of unique requests from us on the way the system should be set up. For example, it works with a base currency in euros rather than sterling and treats sterling as a foreign currency.”
